In the end of the romance, the Green Knight said that Gawain can forget about his wife and treat his wife as a friend after all that drama. I believe this comment is a little degrading to women because the Green Knight is treating his wife like an object more than a person. He is forgiving Gawain so easily to some things he did to his wife.

I agree. The green knight uses his wife as an object to test Gawain. Also, how the author keeps on mention the wife seducing Gawain makes the image of woman really bad.

I agree with Jeyson. The Green Knight seems to use his own wife as a tool to test Sir Gawain. This shows that Green Knight thinks that honor of a random knight is more important than his own wife.

I think women are considered as a temptation. By putting a woman as a character who seduces and allures Sir Gawain, the author tries to implement the idea that men are vulnerable to women's allurement. In fact, Sir Gawain, one of the most honorable and ascetic knights, accepts the lady's gift in the end.
