Reread lines 131-134. Do you see Gawain's self-description as a sincere self-evaluation? Or as false modesty? Explain why.
Would you expect a contemporary heroes to describe themeselves in this way? Why or why not?

In my opinion, Gawain's self-description is a false modesty. I think he is being sarcastic because no one in King Arthur's court responded to the Green Knight's challenge. Everyone in King Arthur's court was shocked and terrified. Gawain states that “I [He] myself [himself] am [is] the weakest, of course, and in wit the most feeble” (235 line 131) to indirectly criticize other knights and to make them feel ashamed of themselves. He is trying to say that he is the only one in this court who can show loyalty to King Arthur and have the courage to accept the Green Knight's challenge. Contemporary heroes also describe themselves this way. They do this not to mock other people but to show modesty.
